KASNEB Procurement and Supply Chain Management Certificate

The Kenya Accountants and Secretaries Examination Board (KASNEB) will begin to offer examinations in Procurement and Supply Chain Management next year following the signing of a three-year agreement with the Kenya Institute of Supplies Management (KISM) in Nairobi last week.
Under the deal, KISM will develop the national curriculum to be launched by November while KASNEB will administer the examinations. The officials said the move would ensure there is adequate supply of qualified personnel for the 47 counties.
“These examinations will increase the capacity to conduct procurement in all sectors of the economy, particularly in the counties where a skills gap exists,” said KISM CEO Hedwig Nyalwal.
The deal comes amid growing concerns over shortage of professionals to handle procurement at the 47 counties.
The piloting of the curriculum and examinations will be conducted between December 2014 and February 2015. June 2015 is targeted for sitting of the first examination. The tests shall be administered twice a year in June and December.
Early this year, KISM announced another partnership with the German International Development Corporation and the United Nation to organise workshops for procurement experts in the counties.
